I am a trained Electronics Engineer by degree with a passion for programming. As many young programmers do, I started off doing application programming, focusing on C++, Visual Basic, Java, and many more. However, as with everything in life, my life took a turn when I met a girl. She was into web development, and as a young man who wanted nothing more than to impress her and “Get the girl,” so I shifted my focus all in one night to web development. HTML, PHP, JS, CSS, and Python were my new tools. Even though she and I did not work out, I still moved forward with web development, learning everything I could over 20 years ago.

Now, I’m an experienced web developer with extensive knowledge in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, and MySQL. My skills did not rest solely in those areas; however, I had a distinct love for the arts and photography. My father is a technical drafter and traditional artist, my paternal grandmother, was a painter, artist, and photographer. Anything that death with arts and crafts she could do, or would learn how to do. I gained a love for photography from her, buying my first DSLR from CompUSA, a Kodak, and from there, my world became photography.

It didn’t stop there; however, photography also gained me other skills I didn’t even realize I had, such as with a little piece of software known as Photoshop. As a photographer, I would edit my photos, remove elements, generally play with them. One day, over ten years ago, I was approached by a work colleague who needed a poster done for a play she was directing. So I set forth and created her a poster, nothing I considered significant. It was some photoshop work, putting things together, making a photo look old, and many other interesting effects. Stuff I did for fun. I gave her the poster without much of a second thought.

It...was...LOVED.

Clearly, I had a talent for making posters, so she starting having me make ALL of her posters and then fliers, and then I found out photoshop alone was not enough. So I found a little program some of you may know called InDesign. From there, my love and enthusiasm for graphic design blossomed into what it is today. Posters, Fliers, Magazines, Brochures, and Signs, I’ve created them all. When I ran up against something I didn’t know how to do, I learned. I grew my skills in leaps and bounds, and from there, I established Kirin Designs.
